Buttermilk Waffles

This is our all time favorite waffle recipe.  I recently made them for breakfast for my husband’s birthday, and I realized no one had posted them on The Sisters’ Cafe yet.  What a tragedy! :)  Melanie gave me this recipe when I first got married, and I don’t think I will ever find another that I like more.  We prefer it with coconut syrup, which Erin has already posted.  And when I don’t have buttermilk on hand, I just use regular milk, which still tastes great.  But try it however you like… you won’t be disappointed!

We made these last weekend. My husband, who doesn’t love waffles or cinnamon, loved them. They are definitely in my list of “repeats”.
    Thanks for such great recipes!

I was searching for a buttermilk waffle recipe over the weekend and found your site – they turned out fantastic! The waffles are so light and fluffy. This is a recipe we'll definitely make again!

Loved them…didn't have buttermilk so I found out how to "make it" ( Put 1 tsp lemon juice in a 1 cup and then fill the rest of it up with milk and let it stand for 5 min.)
They were awesome! Oh, and my husband will NOT eat wheat anything, but I put one cup of wheat flour and one cup white flour. He he…he said, "why does the batter look like that?" I told him it was just how the buttermilk made it look. HA!

Great Recipe! Substituting whole wheat can often make for a dense waffle. These remained light and fluffy, super flavor. This recipe is a keeper.

These are the BEST waffles I have ever made! My family loves these and we make them frequently. They are light and fluffy with a nice hint of cinnamon. Thanks for sharing!

Hi n82, I make these waffles all the time, so you would think I would pay attention, but I can’t remember for sure. I’m guessing 10-12 waffles in my waffle iron… maybe a few more? My family of four always has loads of leftovers. I either make them up and then pop them in the toaster for a few minutes before eating later, or the batter actually keeps in the fridge for a couple of days, too. I served these as a breakfast for dinner at my son’s last birthday party (breakfast food is his favorite), and I tripled the recipe and easily fed 27 people with lots of leftovers. Does that help? I’ll pay better attention the next time I make them! :)
